The Kennedy Rocker is manufactured by the P & P Chair Company of Asheboro, North Carolina. In 1955, John Kennedy was a young Senator from Massachusetts, when his was introduced by his physician, Dr. Janet Travell, to the rocker as therapy to ease his chronic back pain. The rocker was so comfortable, he immediately asked her to order one for him. When President Kennedy moved from the Senate Office Building into the White House, his rocker went with him, the only piece of furniture he brought.
